Gentle manual method

What is the Dorn Method?

The Dorn Method is named after Dieter Dorn. It works with light pressure along the spine and on the joints while you take an active part, for example by gently swinging a leg or an arm.

Unlike chiropractic techniques, there are no sudden thrusts. The treatment is calm and mindful, and many people experience it as pleasant and relaxing.

The Dorn Method is a complementary wellness treatment. It does not provide a diagnosis and does not replace medical or physiotherapy treatment. If you have pain, injuries or unexplained complaints, please see a doctor first.

Why people come to me

Every body is different – each session is experienced individually, and no particular result can be promised.

01

Tense back & neck

When your back, neck or shoulders feel stiff and tense in everyday life.

02

Posture in everyday life

A lot of sitting, one-sided strain – the treatment invites you to become more aware of your own posture.

03

Feeling out of alignment

If your pelvis or legs feel “uneven”, we look at the structure of the body together.

04

Mobility

Gentle movement of the joints can support a freer, lighter feeling in the body.

05

Body awareness

Because you take an active part, you often feel your body more clearly than in hectic everyday life.

06

Self-help at home

Simple exercises you can do yourself for your wellbeing.

How a session works

  1. 1

    Initial conversation

We begin by talking about how you feel and your history. Existing complaints should be checked by a doctor beforehand – please tell me about any illnesses, operations or medication.

  2. 2

    Looking at your posture

I look at the position of your pelvis and legs. The Dorn Method starts from a balanced “foundation”.

  3. 3

    Gentle work on the spine

I feel along the spine from bottom to top and work with light thumb pressure while you gently swing a leg or an arm – without any sudden movements.

  4. 4

    Exercises for home

At the end I show you simple exercises you can use yourself in everyday life.

Origin

Who was Dieter Dorn?

Dieter Dorn (1938–2011) came from Lautrach in the Allgäu region of Germany. In the 1970s an elderly farmer from his neighbourhood showed him a simple method using gentle pressure. He used it himself, developed it further over many years and passed it on in seminars.

Today’s Dorn Method grew out of this experience. It is based on practical experience; its effectiveness has not been scientifically proven.

When the Dorn Method is not suitable

I do not offer the Dorn Method in the following situations. Please talk to your doctor first:

  • acute inflammation or fever
  • recent injuries, fractures or recent operations
  • osteoporosis
  • pregnancy
  • severe or unexplained pain

Frequently asked questions

Is the treatment uncomfortable?

The pressure is deliberately gentle. You can tell me at any time if something does not feel right – I will then stop or continue more lightly.

How long does a session take?

A session takes about 90 minutes, including the initial conversation and exercises for home.

How many sessions do I need?

There is no general answer. After each session you decide for yourself whether and when you would like to come back – there are no subscriptions or packages.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move freely in.

Can I combine the Dorn Method with medical treatment?

It does not replace medical or physiotherapy treatment. If you are currently being treated, please speak to the professional treating you first.

Who pays for it?
